Setting up RooCode / Cline with Volcano Ark Doubao

Who it's for

Prerequisites

• RooCode or Cline installed
• Volcano Ark enabled with an API Key created
• A confirmed working Doubao model ID

Key configuration

• Base URL: https://ark.cn-beijing.volces.com/api/v3
• Model: doubao-seed-1-6 or an equivalent engineering-oriented model
• Authentication: Bearer <API_KEY>

Setup steps

1. Add a compatible API in the RooCode or Cline provider configuration.
2. Fill in the Volcano Ark Base URL and API Key.
3. Set the default model and limit the context scope per task.
4. Test file reading, file writing, summarization, and small-scale command execution first.

Troubleshooting

• If the task chain is too long, the model tends to drift from the goal — break the requirements into multiple steps first.
• If command execution is unstable, restrict the allowed operations in the prompt.
• If Chinese descriptions work well but code edits are slow, provide more explicit file paths and constraints.

Cost note

Agent scenarios usually consume more tokens than plain Q&A. Validate on a small-to-medium repository first, then scale up the task size gradually.
